“Nayara Energy, the country’s largest private oil distribution company, has sharply increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Petrol has been increased by Rs 5.30 per liter and diesel by Rs 3. Nayara is a company in which Russian oil major Rosneft has a stake. Nayara has around 7,000 petrol pumps in India.

With the start of the Iran war, crude oil imports through Hormuz were disrupted and international prices increased. In this situation, even when many countries including the US, Germany, France, and Pakistan increased fuel prices, Indian companies did not revise their prices.

However, the public sector oil companies had increased the price of premium petrol the other day. Following this, Nayara Energy has also increased the price. The public sector oil companies have not increased the price of regular petrol and diesel. There is a strong concern that the prices of these will also increase after the elections in various states.”
