Kochi: Lulu Group continues its mission of introducing more chartered flights to ensure food security in the current situation in the Gulf region.
A special flight carrying 50 tonnes of vegetables left Kochi for Kuwait. A 777 Boeing aircraft of Kuwait Airways took off from Kochi airport at 11.30 am. These are agricultural products procured directly from farmers by Fair Exports, the export arm of Lulu.
Lulu Group stated that this mission will also strengthen Kerala’s agricultural sector, which is facing a decline in exports due to the conflict in the Middle East.
Lulu Group has already operated several flights to other GCC countries, including Kuwait, carrying food items. In the next two days, Gulf Air and Etihad flights will also operate to Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, carrying 30 tons of food items, Lulu Group officials said.
