Kochi ∙ Former Reserve Bank of India Executive Director Jose Joseph Kattoor has been appointed as the Chairman of South Indian Bank. The appointment is for a period of 3 years from today. The Reserve Bank had last month approved his appointment as a non-executive part-time chairman. Jose Joseph Kattoor has been an independent director on the board of South Indian Bank since July 18, 2024.
Jose’s appointment follows the completion of the term of Chairman V.J. Kurien. V.J. Kurien held the post of Chairman from November 2, 2023 to March 22, 2026. Jose, who has more than 3 decades of experience in the Reserve Bank, was an Executive Director since 2021. He retired in 2023. A native of Erumeli, Kottayam, he is the only Malayali to have reached one of the leadership positions of the Reserve Bank.
He holds a postgraduate degree from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand, Gujarat and a law degree from Gujarat University. He has taken charge as the Non-Executive Part-Time Chairman (Independent Director) of South Indian Bank and will lead the management and board in improving the bank’s operations and implementing future plans, the bank said.
