Kottayam-based Carne Books, a company engaged in notebook printing and educational publishing products, is preparing to enter the stock market through an initial public offering (IPO). The company has filed a draft offer document with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for a proposed listing on the BSE SME platform.
Carne Books plans to offer 29.29 lakh equity shares at a price of ₹45 per share. Based on the proposed issue size, the company expects to raise around ₹13.18 crore through the IPO. The IPO opening and closing dates have not yet been announced.
Founded in 2020 under the leadership of Alex Kuruvila Peringatt, Carne Books caters to institutions in India and overseas. Its product portfolio includes customised notebooks, textbooks, laboratory practical record books and laboratory manuals, serving educational institutions and other organisations.
The company’s main printing complex is located at Kuravilangad in Kottayam district. Its business has also expanded beyond the domestic market, with a presence in Gulf countries and the United States.
According to the company, the funds raised through the IPO will primarily be used to meet working capital requirements. The proposed fundraising comes as a growing number of small and medium-sized businesses look towards SME stock exchanges as an avenue for raising capital and supporting expansion.
Carne Books’ proposed market debut also highlights the growing participation of Kerala-based businesses in India’s capital markets. For companies operating in specialised sectors such as printing and educational products, an SME listing can provide access to institutional visibility and fresh capital while supporting future business growth.
The final IPO schedule and other issue details are expected to be announced after the regulatory process is completed.
