Jos Alukkas has launched a new initiative titled #ExchangeForTheNation, aimed at encouraging consumers to recycle unused and idle gold lying in their homes. The campaign seeks to reduce India’s dependence on gold imports while promoting the circulation of existing gold within the country.

According to the Jos Alukkas Group, the initiative is designed to support the broader national objective of retaining more of India’s gold resources within the domestic economy. The announcement comes just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for reducing gold consumption for a year as part of wider efforts to conserve foreign exchange reserves and strengthen economic sustainability.

The #ExchangeForTheNation campaign will be available across all 60-plus Jos Alukkas showrooms. As part of the initiative, customers are being encouraged to exchange old, unused jewellery rather than allowing it to remain dormant.

To make the campaign more attractive, the jewellery group has introduced special benefits for customers. Those exchanging gold will receive an additional ₹2,000 per sovereign, along with a flat 50 percent discount on the making charges of selected gold jewellery collections.

Commenting on the initiative, Paul Alukkas, Managing Director of Jos Alukkas, said the campaign is intended to promote the recycling of existing gold rather than relying solely on fresh imports. He noted that encouraging customers to exchange unused jewellery and bring idle household gold back into circulation can contribute meaningfully to reducing the country’s dependence on imported gold while creating greater value from existing resources.

Through #ExchangeForTheNation, the brand hopes to spark a larger conversation about responsible gold ownership, sustainable consumption, and the economic benefits of recycling one of India’s most treasured assets.
