There are people who don’t get bored waiting at the bus stop. ‘Evide‘ is a mobile app launched by a group of young people from Malappuram to save time for those who take the bus every day to go to work. The creators of the app are Irfanul Rahman, Anwar Swadikh, and Amal Krishna, all natives of Malappuram. The idea came to Irfanul’s mind when he had to wait for work in Kochi in the morning and evening at the bus stand. Anwar and Amal joined him.
The birth of ‘Evide’(Where)
“Where would the bus I need to go have arrived by now? Why couldn’t a man who has been to the moon find this facility?”, Irfanul’s thought led to the birth of the startup ‘Evide’. After checking the app to see where the bus has arrived, all you have to do is reach the stop when the time comes. This premium service, available only in foreign countries, is provided free of charge to customers by ‘Evide’.
The ‘Evide’ team won lakhs of rupees in investment by participating in ‘Manorama Online Elevate – Dreams to Reality’ Season-2, a series organized by Manorama Online to support entrepreneurs in realizing their dream ventures.
Solution to the problem of half a million people
It is estimated that more than half a crore people travel by bus regularly in Kerala. Many people are bored while waiting for the bus. To find a solution, Irfan and his team installed GPS-equipped TV screens inside the bus. Through this, the bus can be tracked. Moreover, the company’s income comes from the money it earns by showing advertisements on these screens.
No more worrying about whether you have reached the stop while traveling to an unknown place. There is also a system that announces the next stop on the TV screen. Currently, around twenty buses in Malappuram district can be tracked live. Soon, 10 more buses in Kozhikode district will be part of the ‘Evide’ app.
Bookings can also be made
Irfan and his friends aim to expand the ‘Evide’ service to 140 buses in Kerala soon. They also plan to move to a multiple travel solutions model in the future. For example, those traveling from Kochi to Kozhikode can book various modes of travel such as buses, taxis, and autorickshaws through a single app. Irfanul Rahman said that the team’s goal is to grow into a big brand by operating in Kerala.
